Why hello, I’m Ashley

Capturing the Ineffable & Composing Memories

For as long as I can remember, I’ve had an intensity of gaze when I look at pretty things and light. I’m forever thankful for it, because that very nature has afforded me both inspiration for the road ahead and a grounding place to return to when heavier days roll in. To me, a great capacity for delight outweighs the burden of also feeling life’s pains quite strongly.

My husband Michael and I have been together since we were very young, and we have a beautiful baby daughter named Holly. She is affectionate, endlessly charming and has gleaming green eyes. Like two little four leaf clovers (if you know, you know.) My husband and I actually met though our shared love of photography. He is a phenomenal fixer, builder, and hunter. I love preparing the meat he procures for us, and breaking bread with family throughout the cozy season. I’m likely to be found mapping out antique store stops for an upcoming trip, or dreaming up a still-life laden with flowers. But I think what I love to do above all is finding magic in the alluring outdoors, Taylor Swift playing all the while - for I too am driven to a thrilling sense of whimsy when I see candle wax on a hardwood floor.

My aesthetic is influenced by the natural world, and the pull of my heart. I am inspired by film cinema of ages past, romantic old paintings, the way light warms and colors our skin, movement, and connection. I love to study art, film, music and even literature as sources of inspiration for my work.

My approach to photography is simple and cultivated by an intrinsic drive to capture the beauty and underlying story I not only see, but feel. I have twelve years of full-time photography experience, but honestly, this part of my life has always been a purely intuitive process. Time has taught me how I want to harness my gift in business, but the rest is still the same as the first day I picked up a camera. I take such deep pleasure in connecting and creating emotion-filled, artistic, beautiful imagery for people.

It is an honor to capture your unique stories; the love shared between two, the gummy smiles of babies, children coming into their own. An inescapable fact whispers in the back of my mind; they will never be as little as they are today.

Capture it, so you and they will always remember it.

Most sincerely,

Ashley

  • “We do not want merely to see beauty, though, God knows, even that is bounty enough. We want something else which can hardly be put into words — to be united with the beauty we see, to pass into it, to receive it into ourselves, to bathe in it, to become part of it.”
